Greens' Party of Azerbaijan has been established 16th of December 2006 in Baku. At the Constituency Conference were adopted Charter of Party and Program. According to the Charter the GPA has two co-chairs that is unique for Azerbaijan political life.
Program of the GPA
Green Party of Azerbaijan
• Understanding each people's dependence on the environmental cleanliness in Azerbaijan;
• considering it necessary to protect, develop and transfer the environment to the future generations;
• acknowledging the negative impact of the infinite and extravagant use of the natural resources on the environment and future development of Azerbaijan;
• acknowledging that each kind of injustice, poverty, corruption, criminality and violence which occurs in the society and the regional conflicts bring tortures to the people and weaken the State;
• considering it necessary to establish a civil society based on the equal rights for each individual in all spheres including social, economic, political and cultural spheres and to avoid the keen social difference between rich and poor people;
• accepting the importance of the man and woman equality for the real democracy;
• highly assessing the protection of the cultural heritage and human dignity;
• highlighting the importance of protecting and developing the cultural heritages of all nations residing in Azerbaijan;
and accepting the key principles of the European Green Party, the Green Party of Azerbaijan will aim its activities at the following directions:
1. Development of Democracy
Each people is worthy for the decisions made with regards to his/her life. These decisions should not be made depending on the wishes and desires of others. Therefore, we will try to increase the participation of the citizens at all power and management levels. The goal is to ensure the full accountability of the representatives of the elective bodies before the people who have voted for them. We will work to establish all kinds of new political and public organizations which will ensure the direct participation of the Azerbaijani citizens in the decision-making process and expand their activities in the local democratic processes.
2. Social justice and equal opportunities
Each people should have the rights and opportunities to equally benefit by the natural resources endowed to them by the nature and society. Therefore, we should prepare ourselves, our organizations and generally our society to fight against each kind of injustice, including racism, class pressures, localistic tendencies, corruption, discrimination for age, sex and disability, cases ignoring social justice and conscientiuos attitude towards principles regulated by the law.
3. Ecological wisdom
The communities are liable to function with the though "human is surely part of nature" and should not divorce the human life from the nature. We should absolutely keep the ecological balance in our activities and try to protect the natural resources of Azerbaijan and our planet. We support the beneficial use of the natural resources. We don't support the society, which suffers from the daily activities of the current generation and sustains instable ecological balance, but a society that is followed by the sustainable development, which may be beneficial for the future generations. Therefore, we should protect the drinkable water endowed to us by the nature, the weather which is necessary for each people irrespective of their riches, and the land that is in jeopardy to lose its productivity and becomes polluted due to the expansion of the oil industry. We should fight against the harms being brought by the oil and gas industry and its exportation, and beneficially using the energy resources, we should live with the methods which respectfully approach the integration of the natural system. We should try that the ecological approach is given preference in the activities of the state and private organizations and individual persons in all spheres.
4. Non-violence
We protest against each kind of violence and terrorism. We shall try to find and develop effective methods that are alternative to the violence traditions which exist in the society. We should try to make harmless the weapons of mass destruction all over the world. We understand the necessity of protecting ourselves and others who are in need of help. Supporting the non-violence methods, we shall direct our activities towards ensuring welfare of each individual and achieving stability in the society of Azerbaijan and region and peace in the world.
Green Party of Azerbaijan shall fight against each kind and level of violence.
5. Decentralization
Centralization of the public-political potentials in one hand makes a contribution to the social-economic injustice and creation of non-humanist military groups and brings the environment into a ruined situation. Therefore, we welcome the structure changes in the development of the public-political and economic institutions and support to replace the organizations, which are benefited and controlled by a few number of rich and powerful people, with more prompt and democratic and less bureaucratic system. We consider it important to transfer the whole power to the elective bodies and ensure the accountability and transparency of all power bodies.
6. Economy at local level and economic justice
We understand that creating a delicate and sustainable economical system is very significant. It needs to create such a system that provides workplaces and worthy living standards for each citizen by keeping the strong ecological balance. Implementing a successful economic system should reflect real value of each citizen's labor and enable to define "minimum salary at the level of cost of living" and offer necessary workplaces for each citizen who wants to work. While selecting economic development models, preference should be given to the economic models, which protect the rights of industrial and office workers and defend the environment. We support the companies, which have social responsibility, follow democratic principles in the management, function under the control of a large number of people, distribute resources and ensure human rights.
7. Feminism and gender equality
We have a heritage of the social system that is based on the male sex in the policy and economy. We think that the human values, including gender equality, mutual responsibility and generosity should be strengthened through the moral values such as ethic conscience. Let us not forget that the decisions that we make and the principles that determine our activities are significant as our targets to achieve the final results.
8. Respect for diversity
We believe that appreciating the values such as cultural, ethic, racial, sexual and conscience freedom and belief diversity is an important factor for the development of the cordial relationships in the community. We believe that large number of various elements of the society will find their places in our organizations and decision-making bodies. Together with our life style, we respectfully approach other life styles and support the protection of the diversity in the society and nature. We acknowledge that the economy should develop in such a manner that does not bring harms to the bio-diversity of Azerbaijan and gives an opportunity to protect the nature of Azerbaijan, especially the bio-diversity of the Caspian Sea. We understand that ensuring the cultural, language, ethnic, religious and other diversities within the responsibility of each citizen is significant for the development of the society.
9. Individual and global responsibility
We agitate the individuals to function to raise their living standards. In addition, we encourage them to increase and combine their efforts in strengthening the ecological balance and social harmony. We stand ready to co-operate with all progressive forces of the world in fighting for peace, fair and health.
10. Targeting future and sustainability
Our fight and political measures should be incited and agitated through long-term targets. It is to make efforts to protect the valuable and exhausting natural resources, establish sustainable development to live as worthy human in the planet and region and avoid and make "harmless" the wastes occurred over the recent decades.
Our slogan seems to be as: For pure Water, fresh Air, fertile Soil, safe Fire

National Government: Since 1993 Azerbaijan Government has only power party's members.
Parties represented in National Parliament: There is not proportional election system. That is why to be presented at national parliament is not possible for political parties.

Election information:Co-chair of the GPA was nominated as candidacy for presidency 2008. During 20 days members of GPA collected about 45000 signatures to support Mayis Gulaliyev as candidate for presidency of Azerbaijan from Greens' Party (for registration as candidacy is demanded 40000 signatures). Unfortunately, Central Election Commission did not register his candidacy without any arguments.

Last local elections were – in December 2004
Next Local Election will be in December 2009. The GPA is going to take part actively at this election.

Next national Election will be November 2010.
