European Greens Support Slovenian Member Party SMS in Parliamentary Elections on 21st September:
The European Green Party today urged Slovenian voters to vote for the EGP's member party , Stranka Mladih Slovenije (SMS), in the upcoming parliamentary election on Sunday 21st September.
EGP Co-Spokesperson Ulrike Lunacek said: "We would like to express our warm support for SMS and hope that they will be able to regain seats in parliament in the election on 21st September. We are confident that many voters will want to see young politicians in parliament who represent a new, fresh type of politics and who will further the green agenda across the whole spectrum of policies, from encouraging sustainable economic development to increasing the use of renewable sources of energy, and from defending human rights to promoting social justice."
Ulrike Lunacek continued: "For this election SMS have decided to cooperate with the People's Party (SLS). In doing this, SMS accept the ideological differences which remain between them and SLS but are working together for a better and greener future for the Slovenian people rather than getting stuck in fights from the past. For all these reasons, we call on Slovenian voters to vote for SMS in Sunday's election."
