European Greens support Partidul Verde in European Parliament Elections:

The Spokespersons of the European Green Party today expressed their support for their member party in Romania, Partidul Verde, in the elections to the European Parliament which take place on Sunday 25th November.

EGP Co-Spokesperson Philippe Lamberts said: "We very much hope that Romanian voters vote for Partidul Verde as it is vitally important that Romania has a strong voice in the European Parliament to further the agenda of environmental protection and social justice. Romania faces many environmental challenges and Partidul Verde, if elected to the European Parliament, would ensure that the EU does much more than it has done up to now to ensure that the Romanian government fulfils its responsibilities in the area of environmental protection."

EGP Co-Spokesperson Ulrike Lunacek continued: "The key issues which Partidul Verde have been campaigning on in this election include the need to encourage more organic farming in Romania and increase EU support for this type of agriculture, how to develop the Romanian economy in an environmentally sustainable way and the protection of water quality, particularly in the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. In terms of social issues, the party is campaigning for better social welfare provision to tackle the problems of poverty and social exclusion. We call on Romanian voters to vote for Partidul Verde on November 25th."
