party profile |
Being created in 1991, the Interregional Green Party (IGP) is one of the oldest political parties in Russia. It was created first as a local Party of St.Petersburg city and in 1997 was first reformed into an interregional party - the actual Interregional Green Party - to include green activists in the North-West regions of Russia. In 2002 IGP began a new self-reforming process to become a whole-Russian party in order to have the possibility to participate in all-Russian parliamentary and presidential elections. Greens, antiglobalists, human rights activists and consumer rights NGOs from 35 regions from across Russia have created in winter 2003 a coordination committee to re-establish IGP as a national green party for Russia. They do work on new political program and prepare the political agenda, to be adopted by a national congress not later than winter 2004.
But Russian legislation was changed in 2004 and it is now in fact impossible to establish an independent political party.
On the Congress at January 2005 IGP was reestablished as a green political movement Green Alternative (GROZA). GROZA now has 45 region groups and more than 2000 members.
On the 17-18 of February 2007 the annual conference of Green Alternative (GROZA) took place in Voronezh (South-West Russia).
Two co-chairpersons were elected (Alexey Kozlov and Viktoria Gromova) and 11 members of the Coordinational Committee. Tatiana Serpuhova was included in the Committee as representative of the newly established topic group on rights of LGBT. The new regional group in Vologograd city was established. It was the third annual conference of GROZA since 2005.
On the 24-25 of February 2008 the annual conference of Green Alternative (GROZA) took place in Moscow.
Two co-chairpersons were re-elected (Alexey Kozlov and Viktoria Gromova) and 11 members of the Coordination Committee were elected.
Dmitriy Kopcov was included in the Committee as representative of the newly established topic group Sochi 2014 (to prevent environmental damages from Olympic games). The new regional group in Perm city was established. It was the fourth annual conference of GROZA since 2005.
